OH. MY. GOODNESS!! Dwarfs and elves, and wizards, and rangers and creatures and hairy footed little people! OH MY! I've been WAITING for this stamp set! And it's amazing! In addition to all of these amazing characters there are plenty of sentiments, too! And the one I used today is my FAVORITE! My family and I always make jokes about second breakfast! I couldn't decide which character to use, so I just used them all! Haha!
I started with a piece of watercolor cardstock and used my MISTI and Versafine Onyx black ink to stamp all of the characters from the Size Doesn't Matter stamp set on the edges of the cardstock. Then I used my Staedtler felt tipped markers to color in each of the images. I used my standard coloring method - using the marker to add basic color to the image and then blending it out with my waterbrush. Once all of my images were dried and colored I used a very light gray to color in the white of the cardstock. I thought this made it look more finished. Then I roughly cut an X into the center of my cardstock and stuck my scissors up through the back of the cardstock so that I could fussy cut around my images to create a window in my cardstock. I adhered some heat resistant acetate to the back of my cut out piece and stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white powder. This way my sentiment can float on top of the shaker bits and never be covered!
I took a separate piece of cardstock and blended on some Distress Inks in orange and green to be the backdrop of my shaker. I started with Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, and Peeled Paint - but I thought the colors weren't bright enough. After much ink blending, I finally ended up with Ripe Persimmon at the top, Spiced Marmalade in the middle, and Peeled Paint at the bottom. I wanted something that would be bright and play off the earthy and neutral colors of the character's clothing and I really love how bright the background is!
I added foam tape around the back of my shaker window and filled it with a mix of Owl Post and Little Green Men shaker sequins from Kindred Stamps. I love how the gold and green mix and tie in with the earth tones of the character's clothing! And the shaker packs are full of different sizes of sequins and beads! They give shaker cards a little extra something! Be sure to watch my video below!
I hope you've enjoyed this look at the Size Doesn't Matter stamp set! Be sure to head over to the Kindred Stamps shop to see the rest of the January release! There's so much to love!
