Hey, everyone! I'm so excited about the new Turtley Awesome stamp set from Kindred Stamps! These little turtles rocked my childhood! I had to do something fun and amazing with them, so I made a spinning wheel card!

So fun right?! I love how all of the little characters from the Turtley Awesome stamp set move around in a circle, but the "you're radical" sentiment is stationary! I used one of my favorite stencils - the Tiles Stencil - to give a fun almost turtley stenciled background in green and in yellow.

Hey, friends! I have a video tutorial sharing just how easy peasy it is to create an inside spinner card with products from LDRS Creative!
This is such an easy interactive card to make - but be sure to watch my video tutorial above! It's difficult for me to explain the steps in detail in a blog post and the video tutorial should be helpful for you to see exactly how I made this card!
Okay let's get started! The outside is the simplest - it looks like a regular card! My card base is a standard A2 side folding card - the finished size is 4.25" x 5.5" and folds flat so you can mail it in a regular envelope! I used patterned papers from the Sweater Weather 6x6 paper pad to create a fun autumn backround. I used the Scallop Circle Frames die set to add some pretty details to my layers. All of my images are from the Happy Fall stamp set and I stamped them with LDRS Creative Raven Hybrid Ink and colored them with alcohol markers. This stamp set was previously released from LDRS Creative but one of the things I love most about this company is that their products work so well together!
The magic is on the inside of the card! The little mouse spins around! So cute! To create a spinner card you need a symmetrical image so that you can stamp, cut, and glue two images back to back. This little mouse isn't symmetrical - so I made it work for me! I used a reverse image stamping technique by stamping the image onto a piece of photopolymer (what clear stamps are typically made from) with LDRS Creative Raven Hybrid Ink and pressing a piece of cardstock on top of the image to transfer the stamping to my cardstock. I haven't ever gotten perfect results using this method - but I can fake it! I used a black pen to fill in any gaps or uneven lines in my stamping.
Now to create and assemble the inside of the spinner card! I cut a piece of cardstock to be 5.25" x 8.5" and scored it down the middle at 4.25" and at 2.5" from each end. I folded the center fold in and the outer folds out so that the folds form an "M" when you look at it from the side. Be sure to check out my video to see a visual of how I folded the piece! I lined up the center die of the Garden Wreath die set so that it's centered top to bottom and in the center of the middle score line of my cardstock. No I have the perfect window in my folded cardstock for my spinning mouse. I wanted there to be a pretty background so I trimmed a piece of paper from the Sweater Weather 6x6 paper pad to be 5" square and scored it down the middle and adhered it on the inside center of my card.
I placed a piece of double sided adhesive on the top and bottom of the back of my die cut inside panel and added a piece of clear thread right down the middle. I added another piece of adhesive on top of the thread covering the first pieces of tape. DO NOT take the release paper off of the back of the second piece of tape or you'll tape your card closed! Add glue or double sided tape to the back of one of the little mouse images and center it onto the thread and then glue the second back to back of the first. Then adhere the spinner mechanism to the inside of the card! Like I said - it seems hard, but it's really not! Watch the video at the beginning of this post and you'll see! Hey, everyone! I have a super fun card using the Heffy Doodle Party Palooza stamp set from Scrapping for Less! I have a video at the end of this post, so scroll down to watch it! This is my first spinner card and I'm obsessed!
I started by stamped out the cake and candle image twice onto Copic friendly paper and coloring them with the markers pictured below. I barely used any markers and tried my best to keep my coloring simple! It's important to select images that are symmetrical when creating a spinner card because you need to glue the images back to back. The candles had a little wax drip coming off the left side making them unsymmetrical, so after I stamped them I used a Copic safe pen to draw a straight line down the side of the candle eliminating the drip. This is better seen in the video below.
I used simple blending techniques and only 2 markers per color. Then I cut out my images right up against the black line and used a marker to go around the outside of the image to eliminate the white core of the paper that shows.
I wanted to add some interest to my background, so I used the Altenew Wave Builder stencil and some Cracked Pistachio and Scattered Straw Distress ink to create my stenciled background. I temporarily adhered my background to a white card base and die cut a circle through both my background and my card front. Now to create the spinner mechanism I glued a piece of clear thread to the top and bottom of the circle on the back of the stenciled background. Then I sandwiched the string between my two cake images. Make sure to use super strong adhesive when gluing the cakes back to back. This is the main focus of the card and you don't want it to fall apart!
I adhered the white frame to the card front and adhere the stenciled background to the card base. Then I used some black ink to stamp the sentiment from the Party Palooza stamp set. All that's left to do is wind up the cake and open the card and watch it spin!
You know I'm a fan of creating bonus cards! I had this cute die cut circle left over from my spinner card, so I popped it up with foam onto the front of another card and quickly colored another cake to be my focal image. I already had the sentiment set up in my MISTI so it was no problem to just stamp it again! Check out my video below!
