"Color Me" Cards

Hello, everyone! I was so inspired by Jennifer McGuire and her "color me" cards that I had to try them for myself! Adult coloring has been all the rage this year, and I thought I would make a set of these cards to give as a gift to a crafty family member!

I grabbed a bunch of stamp sets to create this set. I used the Lace Leaf set from Concord & 9th, Stars Above from My Favorite Things, Zen Florals from Honey Bee Stamps, and I See You and Handwritten Floral Greetings from Simon Says Stamp.

I stamped my images with archival black ink directly on the cards and I'm including a set of colored pencils with the gift. My Misti was so handy for these cards! I made multiples of each design and I could easily switch cards or double stamp if I needed to. I stamped coordinating sentiments on some of the cards and for some I only stamped the images.

I didn't add anything to any of the cards except for the one with the Honey Bee floral image. I felt like the florals needed an edge, so I used a ruler and a black pen to add a finished edge to the line of flowers.

And that's it! These were so simple to make and I really love them! I will probably end up making another set for myself to color!

Sentiments Lawnscaping Challenge

Hey, everyone! Today I have a card that I made for the current Lawnscaping challenge which focuses on sentiments! I will also be uploading my card to the MarkerPOP blog for their anything goes challenge.

Okay, so here we go!

I started by cutting a piece of cardstock with a pierced edge die from Winnie & Walter's Katharine Cutaways. Then I sponged on just about every brown Distress Ink I own. I wanted to have a background where you could really see some color development.

Next I used the sentiment from the Oh Snap Lawn Fawn set and stamped it multiple times in Versamark ink. I embossed with Zing! white embossing powder.

I stamped a few gingerbreadmen from the Lawn Fawn Oh Snap set with Memento ink and colored them in with my Copic markers. I fussy cut them and popped them up on my card. Then I covered them in clear Wink of Stella.

That's it! I'll be back Thursday with another card!

Tis the Season 52 - Lined Up for Christmas

Hey everyone! The Tis the Season Challenge Blog has a new sketch challenge for you to play with! Ready to see the sketch?

Easy enough, right? I think so! All you have to do is make a new Christmas creation following the sketch above. You may use whatever supplies you have in your stash. Then head over to the Tis the Season Challenge Blog and link up what you've made! Here's my project for this challenge:

I used a stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop called Holiday Town. This stamp set is so cute! I used some washi tape and masked off a line straight across the top portion of my card and used an ink blending tool to apply some Antique Linen Distress ink. Instead of doing a scallop border just like the sketch, I thought it would cute to imitate the scallops by stamping some trees! The trees are also from the Holiday Town set and I stamped them with Cottage Ivy ink by Memento.

Next, I moved on to coloring my images. I used both Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. I thought the string of lights would be a good addition to the card, so I colored some of them, too. I thought my pine trees were looking a little naked so I stamped a bunch of the lights together to make one continuous string of lights. I fussy cit my images and stuck them on my card. I popped the house up with foam tape to add some dimension.

As you can see in the closeup, my coloring is not perfect. I had a bit of color bleeding, but that's okay. These are hand made!! I think we as cardmakers are sometimes too hard on ourselves and our work. I could have started over, but I think it's okay!

I added some clear Wink of Stella to the house and the lights because every Christmas cars needs glitter in some way! :)

I thought the bow in the sketch would be too much for my card. It just wouldn't have fit in with my design. Instead, I decided to stamp my sentiment where the bow would go. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that the sentiment would stand out.

And that's my card! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will head over to the Tis the Season Challenge Blog and show us what you've made with this sketch!!

See you next time!

Lawnscaping One Layer Challenge

Hey everyone! Today I am bringing you a card for the current one layer Lawnscaping Challenge. It was a struggle for me! I love my foam tape!

Here is my card! I used the Lawn Fawn Fantastic Friends set and my alcohol markers - both Copic and Spectrum Noir - to color my image.

I started by stamping my sentiment at the bottom of my card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. From there I went on to stamp my fish bowl and all the little decorations and the fishy inside.

Once everything was stamped out I colored the images with my Copics. I thought it looked like the fish tank was just floating, so I used some cool gray markers to add some shading.

After everything was colored I added some clear Wink of Stella and a coat of Glossy Accents over the water. And that's it! I did get a little outside of the lines in places...but everyone I send my cards to knows I make them by hand, so it's okay!

Come back tomorrow for another card project!!

A Cool Buddies Snowy Scene

Hello!! As you know, Christmas and winter cards are my favorite cards to create! They just make me so happy! We have literally had record breaking temperatures here in PA and I thought that I could will some fall weather by creating this wintery scene!

So cute, right!! I started by stamping and coloring a whole bunch of of the little critters from the Create a Smile Cool Buddies stamp set. I used a mix of Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. I am a firm believer in using whatever supplies you have to bring a card together!

I used my Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangles to die cut some pieces of watercolor paper. I used the largest rectangle and the 3rd largest rectangle. After die cutting the 3rd largest rectangle I grabbed my MFT Stitched Snowdrifts Dies and die cut some hills. I wanted to do some ink blending to create the look of hills in the foreground. For the first hill I used Studio Calico's Glass Slipper ink and for the background hill I used Mint Hint ink also from Studio Calico. I used an ink blending tool just like you would with Distress Inks.

I wanted the hills to look like they were covered in snow, so I took my Versamark ink pad and just rubbed my ink pad directly onto my pieces of inked watercolor paper. I sprinkled on some Zing! white embossing powder and heat set the powder. Immediately after the powder was melted I dunked my hill into some glitter embossing powder and then heat set that over top of the white powder. This gave me the shimmery snow look that I wanted!

I wanted a blue sky behind my snowy hills, so I die cut another piece of watercolor cardstock and used some Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks to create my sky. I thought some snowflakes would look just wonderful in my background, so I used my Simon Says Stamp Falling Snowflakes stencil and some white Gesso from Ranger. While that was drying I thought I would create a frame that would pop around my scene. I used some Festive Berries Distress Ink and then I spritzed the piece with some water mixed with Perfect Pearls to give it some shimmer.

I wanted to add a sentiment, so I trimmed a piece of cardstock to a banner and then distressed over the top with some Salty Ocean Distress Ink to match my sky background and then stamped my sentiment over top. I adhered all of my pieces together, popping up the first hill to give some dimension, and added my cool buddies to my scene.

What do you think? Leave me some feedback in the comments! I thought about doing my very first Periscope on the snowy hills technique. Would you guys like that?

I'll see you next time!!

Okay! Get ready to see my card!

I am just in love with it! The little penguins are so cute shaking around with the sequins and beads!

I colored the penguins from the Create a Smile "Cool Buddies" stamp set with Spectrum Noir markers and the string of lights from the Sweet Stamp Shop "Holiday Town" set with Copic markers.

I die cut a stitched circle from a square piece of cardstock and used foam tape around the opening to create a shaker.

I filled up my shaker portion with some penguins, flat and cupped sequins, and some seed beads. I added some twine and that was it!!

Thanks for joining me! Be sure to head over to the Tis the Season challenge blog to link up your creations!! See you soon!

Tis the Season Color Challenge (TTS48)

Hello, everyone! I'm happy to be back with another challenge for the Tis the Season Challenge Blog!! This week there is a color challenge! The four colors are Artichoke, Daffodil, Strawberry, and Pool! I made a couple of cards for this challenge, so let's get started!

Here we go! I chose pool to be my primary color, strawberry for my secondary, daffodil for my tertiary, and I just wanted an artichoke accent.

I won a stamp set from Create a Smile Stamps a few weeks ago and I am so excited to use it! The stamp set is called "Cool Buddies" and includes some cute fox, penguin, and snowman images. Snowmen are my favorite things, so I knew I wanted to use them for this challenge! I chose two snowmen images and the little hat image and colored them with my Copic markers. It is hard to see in this photo, but the hat is an artichoke color with a strawberry stripe. I used some sunflower colors to color the nose and the buttons.

I love pool, so I wanted to make that the primary color of the card. I sponged some Glass Slipper Studio Calico ink onto a piece of white cardstock. I used Washi Tape to leave a small white border. I did this for both cards.

I wanted strawberry to be my second most pronounced color, so I sponged some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink onto my card base for a second border. Since daffodil is my tertiary color, I sponged some Mustard Seed Distress Ink onto some scrap cardstock and trimmed it down to a banner end. I stamped my sentiment using some Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I added some Doodlebug sequins that I thought matched the inspiration colors and adhered them with Multi Medium Matte adhesive. I used tape runner adhesive for the banners and popped up my snowmen and hats! That's it!

I encourage you to head over to the TTS blog and participate in our color challenge this week and check out the other DT member's cards! I'll see you again soon!

Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine Challenge

Hey, everyone! I am loving the July card kit from Simon Says Stamp. It has a nautical theme and it is so perfect for happy, summer, ocean themed cards! Today I am entering my card into the Wednesday Simon Says Stamp challenge - Sparkle and Shine. The sparkle may be difficult to see in the first photo, but scroll down to the second one! Lots and lots of Wink of Stella!! Follow the link below to participate in the challenge yourself!

Ready to see the card? Here we go!!

I started by die cutting a piece of cream cardstock with the largest stitched rectangle from Simon and the second largest rectangle from navy blue cardstock. I stamped the border image repeatedly on the bottom of the navy piece with Versamark and then embossed it with white embossing powder.

Next, I stamped a bunch of the images from the stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics and Spectrum Noir markers. I also stamped the "thanks" sentiment onto a piece of scrap white cardstock and trimmed the end to make a banner.

I arranged all of my images and adhered them to my panel. I popped up the front wave to add some dimension. I added some fun foam behind my navy panel and adhered all of the panels onto a top folding card base.

Next I added a ridiculous amount of clear Wink of Stella. Seriously. Probably about 5 or 6 coats of glitter. It's so shimmery in real life! I hope this photo gives you a little glimpse of all of the glitter that I added!!

And that's the card for today! Thanks for joining me!!

Lawnscaping Rainbow Inspiration

Hello! I have something a little different today. I'm participating in the Lawnscaping challenge! I've wanted to participate for a while, but I've been so nervous! Today I will throw my card into the ring! The challenge is to use the rainbow as inspiration! Click the link below the photo if you want to participate as well!

So that's my card! I started by watercoloring with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink. I just basically painted a blob onto my paper. Then I used a stencil from Studio Calico and applied some embossing paste over the watercoloring. I sprinkled some glittery embossing powder onto the wet paste and heat set it after the paste was dry.

Next I grabbed the Lawn Fawn Baked With Love stamp set and stamped my image. I started with the top cupcake and used masking to stamp the tower of cakes and the table. I used Colic and Spectrum Noir markers to color them and then fussy cut my scene. I stamped my sentiment and trimmed the paper to banner edges.

All that was left was to add a heavy coat of Wink of Stella clear glitter and apply some Glossy Accents.

That's it! I hope you enjoy and that my card inspires you! I'll be back later with more cards!

Simon Says Stamp Sail Away Card

Hello, everyone! I'm excited to be back today with a card using the July kit from Simon Says Stamp (Sail Away). It's an awesome kit with a nautical feel. Probably one of my favorites!

I'm going to be linking up today's card to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week is Anything Goes!!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog

Let's just jump right in to my card!

I just love this one! It's so feminine! A lot of nautical cards have the same old red, blue, white color scheme and I wanted to step outside of the box!

I started by stamping all of my images and coloring them with Copic markers. I tried to use an ombre effect on the waves to give some dimension!

Once everything was colored and cut out, I cut down a piece of Kraft cardstock to be a bit bigger than a standard A2 card. This one is actually 5 1/2 x 7 inches. I prepped my card and stamped down my sentiment and embossed it with white powder.

Then came the fun part! - Deciding where to put all of my pieces! Some are on foam tape and others are adhered straight down.

Once everything was glued in place I added some strips of washi tape....Just because! Then I used my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter marker with a very heavy hand to give the card some shimmer!

I hope you enjoyed this card! I'll be back soon!
