ThermOWeb Live with Lynnea ( AND JAX! } | Kids Ornaments with Glitz

I have a special project to share with you LIVE on the ThermOWeb YouTube Channel this Wednesday, November 17th at 11am CT / 12pm ET! And I'll be joined by a special guest - my son, Jax! If you've joined me before you may have heard his sweet voice or seen his little hands pop into the screen. He's been wanting to craft live with me, so we're going to show how easy it is to create a set of ornaments with Glitz Glitter Gel

I'm going to be sharing tips and tricks for getting your kids involved in crafts for the Holidays! Jax has been crafting with me since he was almost 2 (he's 6 now) and he LOVES to make handmade gifts to give at Christmas (though he has informed me that these cute ornaments will be hanging on his tree this year!).

I created this quick set of tag ornaments, but you'll see just how easy they are to create with little hands when you join me live! This design is easily customizable. Jax's favorite colors are blue and green and he loves dinos! I used Turquoise Sea Glitz Glitter Gel for these samples, but who knows what color he'll pick when we're live!

I hope you're excited to come craft with me and Jax! He is SO excited to craft with all of you. We'll see you LIVE on the ThermOWeb YouTube Channel on Wednesday at 12pm CT / 1pm ET!

ThermOWeb Live with Lynnea | Memory Game with Laura Kelly

Want a fun way to get your littles involved in crafting? How about a memory game! I had my son stamp and color some of his favorite Laura Kelly images and then we did a bit of foiling and die cutting to finish off the game cards. I'll be showing you how live on the ThermOWeb YouTube channel TODAY at 12pm CT/ 1pm ET! See you there!

This memory game activity was just a great bonding experience for me and my 5 (almost 6!!) year old. He has always shared my craft room with me and it has been fun to help him learn to foil. He calls foils tinsels and was excited to use so many pretty Laura Kelly "tinsels"

We kept to the basic colors of the rainbow and used different colors of Laura Kelly Foils with different Laura Kelly Toner Sheets. He wanted a fun shape so we die cut scalloped tag shapes from both white and colored cardstocks to match the Laura Kelly Transfer Foils.

I added some ink blending towards the bottom of each die cut Toner Sheet to match the foil and cardstock while Jax stamped images from the Laura Kelly Kindness on Purpose and Me & My Peeps Stamp Sets and colored them with Copic Markers. I helped him cut them out and then he glued them to the game cards.

I hope you'll join me live TODAY on the ThermOWeb YouTube Channel for a step by step tutorial of how we made this memory card game! I'll be live at 12pm CT / 1pm ET. See you then!

Also, we have a web page: Get Kids Crafty! This is new and we will be changing it up as we go through our growing process, so do make sure to check it out occasionally!

This month's blog hop theme is Ocean and the theme goes hand in hand with the new Get Kid's Crafty! exclusive stamp set from Beth Duff Designs: Manatee Love! It's the cutest stamp set and I wasn't the only one excited to use it...Jax (my 2 year old son) was so excited as well! He kept saying "Mom! Fish! Fish! Mom look! Fish!"!

We decided to make a set of Mother's Day cards using the fabulously cute manatees! I took some photos along the way and my heart is warmed by how excited Jax was to share in the cardmaking process.

Many of my readers know the journey we've been on to become a family, but I want to share our story with those of you who may be new to my blog! My husband and I tried to start a family and after multiple miscarriages we found out it was unlikely we would have our own. We started the process to become foster parents in early 2015 and in November of 2015 we were approved. We were a pre-adoptive home meaning that any child we took into our home we hoped to adopt. It didn't take long before we were blessed with a baby boy. We met him when he was just 2 weeks old. He was perfect in my eyes, but his little body was fighting off an addiction to heroin passed to him due by his birth mother. The hospital waited 2 weeks to call us because they didn't know if he would pull through. He had seizures and difficulty eating and gaining weight, but holding him and bonding with him was amazing. We lived with him in the NICU for a month trying to bring him out of his addiction and eventually the doctors let us bring him home! He was still struggling with addiction, but at least we were home. He had seizures for a few more months, but finally the drugs were out of his little body and he was growing and he was perfect. So so perfect. But we weren't out of the woods yet...we had court dates what seemed like every other day fighting to keep him with us in our home. To keep him safe. It took until January 31, 2017 but he is OURS! And I'm so happy to say that he has no complications from the circumstances around his birth. He is beautiful and he is such an amazing inspiration to me. Every day I look at my baby and think of how much he's been through. His story brings me to tears and I love him so much. Everyone says that we saved him, but he truly saved us. He is everything to us. I spent almost 2 years being afraid and wondering if he would be ours...wondering if someone would take him...wondering if this would be the last time I would see him. Crafting together is something that we've done since he was an infant. He has always loved being creative. I used to hoard his crafts because I thought they would be all I had left of him. I'm so happy we have years of crafting in our future!

Okay...now that I am thoroughly crying like a baby...let's get on to the cards we made!

Jax loves watercoloring...and when I got my hands on the new Nuvo Shimmer Powders I thought that it was something he would love as much as I did! And he does! These powders are so kid friendly! He sprinkled some onto his paper and started spraying with water...adding more powder...and more water!

He had so much fun! He made three backgrounds and they were all gorgeous!

I wanted these cards to be something that he created mainly by himself. He's only 2, and so instead of having him fuss with the paper trimmer...we decided to cut them out with scalloped rectangle dies. He is a master of the Sizzix Big Shot. He loves it and uses it almost every day!

Look at those backgrounds! The one on the right is my favorite, but they are all wonderful!

We stamped out some images from the Manatee Love stamp set and he colored them with markers. I let him pick how he wants to color things...but he seems to like his markers the best!

I love these cards! I think he did a fabulous job!

I'm happy there were enough backgrounds to make multiple cards...because I'm keeping one for myself! Haha!

I want to encourage all of you to create with your kids. It's such an amazing way to bond with them. I feel like Jax and I are never closer than when we are crafting together. There is such joy on his face when he sees everything come together and see something he made.

Okay!! Now go visit my fellow bloggers and find more inspiration to get crafty with your kids!! And don't forget to use the hashtag #getkidscrafty on your social media pages! We'd love to see how you craft with your kids!

National Unicorn Day

Hey, everyone! It's National Unicorn Day! I love unicorns, glitter, rainbows, and everything lovely! It's also release day for Beth Duff Designs! Beth has 8 amazing stamp sets for her first release and Unicorn Farts is one of my favorites! I ordered a few more stamp sets today, so make sure you head over and grab your favorites, too!

I've recently started loving colored pencils. I've always been a watercolor girl...and probably still will be...but I do love pencils, too! I colored up this adorable unicorn from the BDD Unicorn Farts stamp set with my Staedtler pencils and added a healthy amount of Wink of Stella...because all unicorns should sparkle! I needed a fabulous background, so I embossed the Cora background stamp from Simon Says Stamp onto gray cardstock with white and clear powders. I love the spotlight effect!

Thanks for joining me for National Unicorn day! I hope you head over to Beth Duff Designs and pick up the Unicorn Farts stamp set for yourself!!

Here's my card! I chose a design that is clean and simple and easy for crafters of all ages and level of expertise to recreate! Getting kids crafty is something I am extremely passionate about! I craft often with my 2 year old son - even if it's just playing with stickers! It channels his creativity and it's time together that I absolutely love!

I recently purchased some Nuvo shimmer powders and I just had to use them, but you can easily substitute any watercolors you have on hand! I added some clean water in messy stripes to watercolor cardstock and added some of the powders in rainbow order. I didn't have an orange color, so I mixed some red and yellow together.

My ADORABLE image is from the Unicorn Farts stamp set. It's amazing! I'm a lover of all things unicorns, so I HAD to get my hands on these stamps! I used colored pencils to color this little guy and added a healthy amount of Wink of Stella for shimmer...because all unicorns should sparkle! I popped up the sentiment and image and added some Nuvo glitter drops and I'm done! If you recreate this design I would love to see it!
