Hey, everyone! I am loving the July card kit from Simon Says Stamp. It has a nautical theme and it is so perfect for happy, summer, ocean themed cards! I started by die cutting a piece of cream cardstock with the largest stitched rectangle from Simon and the second largest rectangle from navy blue cardstock. I stamped the border image repeatedly on the bottom of the navy piece with Versamark and then embossed it with white embossing powder.
Next, I stamped a bunch of the images from the stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics and Spectrum Noir markers. I also stamped the "thanks" sentiment onto a piece of scrap white cardstock and trimmed the end to make a banner.
I arranged all of my images and adhered them to my panel. I popped up the front wave to add some dimension. I added some fun foam behind my navy panel and adhered all of the panels onto a top folding card base.
Next I added a ridiculous amount of clear Wink of Stella. Seriously. Probably about 5 or 6 coats of glitter. It's so shimmery in real life! I hope this photo gives you a little glimpse of all of the glitter that I added!!

Hello everyone! You would not believe the day I had yesterday! It was a classic example of Murphy's Law. Murphy follows me everywhere! Anyway, here is the last installment of my Valentine's Day card series! I think you'll really like this one! I used blues and a nautical theme so that I could send this card to a man in my life!

Here's the card! Isn't it cute! I started by stamping both whales from the Lawn Fawn "Whale You Be Mine" stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used IG1, IG2, IG4, and IG6 Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to color in the whales. Instead of doing a classic shading technique, I did added dots to where I wanted the image to appear shaded. I really love this particular technique on these whales! When I was done coloring I used the matching dies to cut out these little whales.
Next I used painter's tape to mask off lines on my card. Each white area is 1 inch and each colored area is 1/2 inch. I used 3 colors of Distress Ink- Broken China, Salty Ocean, and Peacock Feathers. I blended these colors onto my Neenah card base using a mini ink blending tool.
After I removed the painters tape, I stamped my sentiment in Versafine ink and covered it with some Simon Says Stamp clear embossing powder.
I added my whales to the card with some foam squares. I have these hearts that I picked up at Target. They are from K&Company and the hearts are various sizes and colors, so I thought it would be cute to add some to the card.
I added a coat of Wink of Stella to make the whales shimmer. I wanted to use Glossy Accents, but, *gasp*! I'm all out! So I used some Mod Podge Dimensional Magic instead. It's essentially the same thing, but I did notice that there's a lot more bubbles with this product.

I know this card is still a little cutesy, but it is a Valentine after all! I definitely sent it off to a wonderful family member - who just happens to be a man!

Hi there! I hope everyone is staying warm! I thought I'd share a happy Valentine to brighten everyone's day! Today's card features the Lawn Fawn Whale You Be Mine stamp and die set. I thought that I'd enter this card in the Wednesday Challenge over at SSS!

Aren't those little whales to die for!? I just love them! I colored them with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I started with a wash of a light lavender and then used other markers from the purple pack to add shading. Instead of doing the standard shading technique, I thought I'd try this dotting technique that everyone is doing...and I love it! I took a shade of purple that normally wouldn't blend with my base color and added dots where I wanted shading to be. I thought that it would be fun to have them be under water and the sun is shining down from above the water, so I added my dots to the top of their bodies. Then I took a middle of the road purple and added more dots, and took my lightest purple and colored over top of the dots to blend everything together.
I cut a tag out of white paper and added a reinforcement circle to the top by first punching a 1/4" circle out of purple paper and then lining up my 1/2" punch around the negative punched out circle. I used the Stitched Snow Drifts dies from MFT and cut some waves from some polka dot paper. I added these to the bottom of my tag and then added my whales with foam squares. I thought the tag needed a bit more, so I grabbed some Martha Stewart bakers twine and added a few strands through the hole and die cut some hearts from the SSS Holiday Shapes die.
I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set in Studio Calico Mint Hint ink and trimmed the paper into a banner shape. The papers are from an American Crafts Valentine collection. I just love the xoxoxo paper! I put everything together on a top folding Neenah card base and added some more die cut waves at the bottom of my card. Some Wink of Stella on the whales, the purple strip of paper, and the hearts and some glossy accents on the hearts and this card is finished!

Here is my first card using the kit. I started by die cutting a few pieces of paper - I used some SSS cream cardstock and the patterned paper with the pink heart in the middle. Since I couldn't ever fit the whole heart on a card, I thought I'd die cut it so that I got some of the color. The die that I used is from Spellbinders Office Supplies. I love how it looks like a page torn out of a notebook! I stamped and embossed my sentiment at the bottom, stamped some hearts with Blush Crush ink from SC, and added some skinny Washi tape. I taped them together so that the tags would be staggered.
I cut the card base from SSS Cotton Candy cardstock and stamped a bunch of elements onto the paper using Blush Crush and Well Red inks from SC. I also added some more Washi to bring some gold into the card base. Then, I used some SSS Distress Paint mixed with water and spattered some white paint onto the card. It wasn't giving me the look I had envisioned, so I tried black instead. I used my Black Soot Distress Ink Pad and smooshed it onto my mat with some water and spattered the paint onto my card. This was more what I wanted.
I die cut some hearts using the Holiday Shapes die from SSS and added those and some gold sequins onto my card using Micro Glue Dots. The die cut pieces are added with foam squares and I added a mini clothes pin as an accent!

Hello! Today I have a few "thank you" cards to share with you. I used my Winter Wonderland January card kit from Simon Says Stamp to create my Christmas thank you's this year. I just love this kit! Purple is one of my favorite colors and the stamp set is to die for!
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I'm going to be entering these cards into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge. This week is "Anything Goes!"
Let's just jump right in to the first card!
This one is probably my favorite card that I've made with this kit. I wanted to really focus on the blues in the patterned paper. I made a card base from Neenah cardstock, cut the blue cardstock from the kit 1/8" smaller than the card base, and the blue snowflake paper 1/4" smaller than the base. I used tape runner adhesive to stick them down. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added a strip of white cardstock and some blue glitter tape.
I felt like the card needed more, so I used the winter road tag from my kit (I was lucky enough to receive the extra embellishments in my kit) and layered a die cut vellum tag on top. I stamped an additional sentiment at the bottom and used some brown cardstock to create a reinforcement circle. I looped some gold thread through the opening and also "squished" some around from behind the tag.
Next up is a card where I tried to bring out the purples. The patterned paper is a light almost fog gray color and I thought it really looked great against the purple. I die cut a 2 1/2 inch circle from purple cardstock and stamped and embossed the diagonal stripe stamp at the bottom. I used my white gel pen to add some stitching detail.
The tag was actually a mistake that I made work. I had used my embossing ink with some snowflake stamps and the Grape Fizz Perfect Pearls on some light gray cardstock, but the Perfect Pearls smudged a little bit. It was my first time using this product and I've gotten better at it. I almost threw away the piece of cardstock, but I only messed up on part of it, so I die cut a tag from the part of the paper that was okay. I used some scrap purple cardstock to make a reinforcement for the top and wrapped some Recollections washi tape around the bottom. Then I stamped the sentiment and embossed it with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.
I wanted a messy gold thread look, so I looped some through the tag and cut the strands to different lengths and also put some strands behind my tag.
Last, but not least, is a shaker card with some fun seed beads. I made this for my sister-in-law and her family. I thought my nephew would have a lot of fun shaking this card around!
I cut a piece of the "barn door" paper and stamped some snowflakes onto it with the Simon Says Stamp white ink. I used the lighter gray cardstock from the kit and stamped my sentiment with the same white pigment ink. Then I used a circle die to cut out a circle from the top center of the panel and added some faux stitching with a white gel pen.
I filled up my shaker portion with some gold and silver seed beads. They shake around really well!

Happy World Card Making Day to everyone! I had made plans to spend the entire day with my family a while back, so I stayed up late on Friday to film a video for you guys. Since there weren't any challenges for WCMD yet, I chose to participate in the Wednesday challenge over at Simon's blog - Transport It! You just had to use some kind of transportation on your project. If you want to see more about this challenge or participate yourself just click the link below!
Okay! So I've made three cards for this challenge and one of them has a video. Let me start with my favorite of the three (which also happens to be the one with the video!)
I used one of my favorite Authentique paper pads for this card - Something for All Seasons. It just has everything!! (literally something for each season) There's deep reds, blues, grays, greens...everything! That bike paper really caught my eye. I just loved the different tones of gray with the pop of blue! Once I saw that paper I just started pulling out a few other papers that coordinated together. The great thing about using a paper pad is that the designers do the work for you. For the most part all of the papers all ready coordinate!
One of the papers that I chose had a newspaper print and I chose to stamp my sentiment on that one. I used a DCWV stamp set that I picked up at Michael's. I stamped it in Ranger Emboss It ink and used Zing White Opaque embossing powder to make it pop off the page. I used my foam dots to adhere that to my yellow and chevron mats.
I thought the card needed a few more finishing touches, so I used my Clean Slate ink from the Studio Calico Color Theory line and stamped a few of the stars (from the stamp set) onto a few scrap pieces of the chevron and yellow papers. I used my Cutter Bee scissors to cut them out and then glued them down (some on top of the sentiment piece and some sticking out of the bottom) with Heidi Swapp Magic Medium in the clear finish.

Let's move on to my next card!
This one is super simple. I used the Uncharted Waters paper pad by Glitz for this card. I knew I wanted those anchors for my background. I chose a strip of polka dot paper, a tiny piece of tan colored paper, and then the blue waves paper for my sentiment. I wanted the tan paper to be in the background, so I adhered that with my Scotch ATG gun first and then the polka dot piece on top of it. This is a great way to get subtle dimension without using foam squares. Next, I stamped and embossed my sentiment (from a 7 Gypsies stamp set) onto the wave paper and adhered that down on top of the tan piece as well.
I stamped the ship (from an old Prima stamp set) onto the polka dot paper and used my scissors to fussy cut around the image. I used foam squares to pop that onto my card. The pearls are from Michael's. They are Recollections brand. I picked them up to make an album for my Mom and I had so many left over! They really were a great buy!
This one took FOREVER! Probably 2 hours!! The whole square piece is one stamp. I purchased it on a clearance rack a while back and never used it! It's from the TPC Studio. All of my patterned papers for this card came from the Parkbench paper pad from Fancy Pants Designs. I started with a piece of Neenah 110lb Solar White cardstock and used Clean Slate ink from Studio Calico to stamp my image. Next, I stamped my image again on polka dot, yellow, and flower paper. And now for the time consuming part - I fussy cut all of those images from the different pieces of paper! Whew. That took a lot less time to write than to actually do! I stamped one of the sentiments from the stamp set onto the banner with the same Clean Slate ink from SC.
Okay! Once all of that was done I used the gray ink and a Mini Ink Blending Tool to distress the edges of my square piece just a bit. I didn't like the look of the stark white paper. I used foam dots to pop this piece on top of my card.
I cut the black and white paper to cover the entire card front and then the gray stripe paper to leave a 1/4 inch border all around. I used my leftover strip of the black and white paper to go horizontally across the card. I added some white lace trim (purchased from the Hobby Lobby) and tied a bow to go on the technique piece.
To finish off this card I used some clear, white, opaque, and silver sequins from Doodlebug. I adhered them with some Heidi Swapp Magic Medium in the clear finish - I'm really loving this adhesive right now! It dries so quickly and holds really well!
