You're My Favorite to Hang With

Hey, everyone! I love that "In the Wild" is August's theme at Scrapping for Less! Get ready for lots of cute critter projects from myself and the rest of the design team! Today I used a set of dies to create a faux cover die look! Super easy and looks great! Find more on my blog!

Are you anything like me? - I have so much colored cardstock in my craft room! I've made a promise to myself to start using it! I decided to make a faux coverplate background using the Jungle Leaves dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I do this all the time - it's super easy! I grabbed two colors of green cardstock - a light green for the background and a mid green for all of my die cutting. I used the curved vine from the Jungle Leaves die set and cut it multiple times from the mid green cardstock. Then I glued all the little vines onto the lighter green cardstock to create my leafy vine background.

The sloths in the LaLa Land Crafts Take it Sloth stamp set are just too cute! I stamped one hanging from a branch onto heavy weight cardstock and colored him with my alcohol markers. I used my scissors to trim around the image and added it to the right side of my background so it looks like the sloth is hanging off the side of my card.

I stamped a coordinating sentiment in green ink and trimmed the edges of the sentiment strip to banner ends and added it towards the center of my card. I have a video tutorial for this card below!

A Bee-utiful Distress Inked and Masked Background

I love the little bee in the Buzzin' Around stamp set! I stamped the bee, the little trail, "bzz" and sentiment on a piece of smooth cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed all of my stamping with clear powder. I grabbed my go to coloring medium - watercolor markers - and added some quick color to the yellow parts of the bee and some light blue to the inside part of the wings leaving them white at the tips for a bit of dimension.

I had every intention of leaving the background plain white and just doing a simple stamped background - but it was just too plain. So I sat and thought for a while. I decided I wanted to do a yellow background and the easiest way to do it was to do some post it note masking! I grabbed a stack of three full stick post it notes and stamped the bee three times. I cut out the bee right along the black line. Once I had the shapes cut out all I had to do was peel them apart and I had 9 little bee masks! I aligned them over my stamping and grabbed some Distress Inks and started blending. I used Scattered Straw at the top and blended into Fossilized Amber and a bit of Wild Honey at the bottom!

I peeled off the masks ( it's seriously like magic! ) and I was so excited at the muted yellow background! I'm so happy I didn't leave it white! Thanks for joining me! Remember to snag your February 2019 one - off box!

Pastel Watercolor Stripes

I recently got the Pastel Dreams watercolor set from Prima Watercolor Confections and the colors are just SO gorgeous! I fell in love just swatching them! I love how the pastel colors remind me of ice cream! I had the idea to create a simple striped watercolor background - one of my go to techniques. I thought I would just alternate yellow, light pink, and medium pink - but I was so drawn to the whole rainbow of colors that I just kept going! And I'm SO glad I did! I used a 1/2 oval watercolor wash brush and made simple stripes and tilted my cardstock so that the colors would puddle at the bottom of each stripe.

I love the look of spatters in the background, but the watercolor set didn't come with black - the color I usually use - and honestly I'm glad that I didn't use black and took a chance on the brown! I LOVE IT! I grabbed the geometric bee chipboard shape and pressed my Versamark ink pad over it and applied some Ranger gold embossing powder to the bee. I repeated this process three times so that I had a total of four layers of gold embossing powder on the bee. It's so smooth and looks even more raised than before!

I added the chipboard bee to the card with strong glue and used a sentiment from the Buzzin Around stamp set from Elizabeth Craft Designs and heat embossed it with the same gold powder from Ranger that I used on the bee. I embossed the sentiment three times so that it would have the same raised, rounded shape as the bee! Check out my process video below!

From Bees to Butterflies!

Hey, everyone! I've been having so much fun with the February box from The Hedgehog Hollow! The box gives me all the feels for Spring, so I decided to turn the butterfly dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs into a butterfly! I die cut the bee wings from watercolor cardstock and used my watercolors to add some bright spring colors to the wings. I hand cut a skinny oval from black cardstock and glued the wings onto the back of it as well as some die cut antennae. I decided to make this a fun shaker card, so I used some stacking rectangle dies and kraft cardstock to create a frame and a bunch of spring colored sequins. I used sequins from a bunch of companies in a bunch of colors to really fill up this full sized shaker! I used a sentiment from the Finding Your Way stamp set from The Hedgehog Hollow and a tiny strip of gold glitter cardstock to finish off the card.

Bee Happy Glitter Stripes with The Hedgehog Hollow

Hey, everyone! I'm using the February card kit from The Hedgehog Hollow to make a clean and simple glitter card today! It makes me feel like spring is coming! I started by adhering two strips of double sided adhesive to my A2 sized card. The skinny strip on top is 1/4 inch and the wide tape is 1 inch. I peeled off each layer separately and added the Silk Microfine Glitters from Elizabeth Craft Designs in the February box. I used my fingers to really rub in the glitter and I'm still amazed at how smooth and fine the finish is! It really looks like it's part of the actual card rather than a glitter on top!

I stamped the bee, his little trail, and the sentiments using some black ink and colored in the bee with some Copic markers. I used very simple shading and blending - just some Y17 and Y13 for the yellow and some BG13 for the wings. I didn't even color in the whole wings, instead I just flicked on some color from the inside out for some dimension and color.

Sparkly Bee Die Cut Card

Hi, everyone! I'm head over heels for the February 2019 box from The Hedgehog Hollow! Check out that big bee die cut! It's super cute! And big enough to be the focal point of the card! It's the Bee die cut from Elizabeth Craft Designs and it's exclusive to the February box! It comes in 6 separate pieces so you could easily cut the bee from different colors of felt or cardstock. I used the white cardstock included in the box and applied the adhesive sheets to one side (though I wish I had done both sides! Haha!) and cut out all the pieces, except the wings. The kit comes with two pots of glitter - yellow and black. I peeled back the adhesive and applied the glitter to the different parts of the bee and rubbed it in with my fingers. OMG! This glitter is so smooth and velvety! It's like it's molded to the paper! It's amazing! I wanted the wings of the bee to be glittery like the rest of the bee, so I used some glitter embossing powder on the wings.

I mean seriously! The shimmer and shine!! I used the Buzzin Around stamp set to stamp a background with Versafine ink and embossed it with clear powder. I also stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment onto black cardstock and added a strip of gold glitter cardstock to the bottom.

This is a simple card to recreate, but I am obsessed with the fine glitter!! Watch my process below!
