Valentine's Day Card Video Series #1

Hello! I thought that I would take the plunge and start a Valentine's Day video series! Be sure to check my YouTube channel (Lynnea Hollendonner) and my blog over the next few weeks for card projects and videos all with a love theme!

Here's the first card in my video series:

I started with a piece of Neenah cardstock measuring 3.75" by 5". I thought the paper was too white for the feel of the card and I didn't have any paper that was a creamy color, so I used some Antique Linen Distress Ink to color my cardstock. Once I had completely covered my paper, I pulled out the Winter in the Park stamp set from Lawn Fawn and stamped the bench and the street lamps in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I also used one of the curved lines to add some balloon strings on top of the bench.

I've been using dies on almost every one of my cards since I got my Big Shot, and this one is no exception! I used the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes die. This die cuts stars in 4 sizes and hearts in 4 sizes. I cut out just the hearts multiple times from some Simon Says Stamp cardstock. Another one of my finds from SSS are the Glue Dots in the Micro size. These little babies are perfect for adhering small embellishments like these hearts or sequins. They are my new favorite things in the world! I used them to stick down a bunch of the little red hearts.

I ended up taking away some of the red hearts because I thought it was a bit overwhelming. I still wanted to fill in the blank spaces with something, so I used the Love You Tons stamp set from Lawn Fawn and pulled out the little baby heart stamp. I inked it up with Memento Angel Pink ink and stamped it all over the piece. The "I Love You" sentiment is put together form the Lawn Fawn Clark's ABCs stamp set and stamped with Tuxedo Black ink.

I matted the stamped piece onto some pale pink cardstock from a DCWV paper pad that I had on hand. I wanted the pink to match the pink hearts. Next I chose a piece of patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye Blush paper pad. I cut the paper to cover the front of a Neenah A2 card base.

I've made a process video for this card. I must say...please excuse the status of my nail polish! I just worked and the constant washing of my nails takes my nail polish off my nails quicker than I've ever seen! Just...don't look at them :) Here it is!

I also created another version of this card, but with a darker stamped piece and red paper.

I wanted this one to have more of a masculine feel than the pink one, so I used less pink hearts, red paper, and a black and cream patterned paper.

That's it for today! Be sure to come back soon for more Valentine's themed cards!!
