A Card For My Brother (( & A VIDEO ))

Hello, crafty friends!!

Well...it's official! I've killed a kit! The August card kit from Simon Says Stamp (Summer Dreams) was just so fantastic! When all is said and done, I have 17 cards from this kit, and of course I still have the Distress Markers and the stamp set (Ice Cream Dreams), so I could still go on making more cards! I'm sure everyone has different ideas of when a kit is "killed", but I consider this kit killed because I don't have enough paper or embellishments left to make another card.

Today I'm sharing a couple more cards that I made with the kit and a video of one of the cards I made!

Okay, here's one of my cards. I was really trying to use up a bunch of my scraps for this one, so I made a "panel" pattern with a some of the papers. This is when I love that the papers are 6x6 because I cut off at least a half inch from the papers when I use them for cards and the leftover pieces work out great for a card like this! I did have to use a piece of paper from my stash (the striped paper), but I think it looks okay!

I used some of the embellishments from the kit (the love and striped tab came as one piece, I just cut it in half). The ice cream and popsicle pieces are all ones that I created when I first got the kit. I just kept them in the little baggie that held all of the other embellishments. You'll see that I used that striped paper again. I just punched it with my Fiskars Apron Lace border punch. I just bought this punch at A.C. Moore on a super clearance rack and I love it!

For this card I took a bunch of the papers and created a sort of "starburst" pattern. I ended up not liking it too much, but I refuse to waste all that paper! So I covered it up with some ice cream cones and a large banner piece. Here's that border punch again!

And this is my last card! This is one I made special for my youngest brother. He just started his second year of college and I miss him so much! Don't laugh, but he's only 10 minutes away from me. It's just so strange that he's in college. So so strange. I remember helping pack his school supplies for elementary school! Oh well. I made a promise to myself that I would try to send him more cards this year, so I guess I'm off to a good start!

Here's the video tutorial for this card :
