I started this card with my little mini scene in the center of my card. I used the Scalloped Circle Frame Die Set to create a centerpiece. I used the two largest dies in the Scalloped Circle Frame Die Set and used a bit of masking tape to adhere them together and die cut a piece of white cardstock to create the scalloped frame. Then I used just the largest scalloped circle die to cut a second piece ( without the center cut out ) so that I could do a bit of ink blending to build the scene.
I used the Rainy Day Stencil for the stenciled clouds and grass. This stencil is probably my most used stencil in my craft room! I reach for it for everything! I build up three layers of grass using the Rainy Day Stencil and the Prickly Pear Perfection Hybrid Ink. Yes just one color of ink! I used the grass border at the bottom of the Rainy Day Stencil and blended a heavy application of Prickly Pear Perfection Hybrid Ink, shifted up my stencil slightly, and blended Prickly Pear Perfection again - but slightly lighter than the first layer. Then I shifted up the stencil one last time and blended a light application of Prickly Pear Perfection. Boom! Three layers of grass with just one ink! Then I wanted some puffy clouds in the sky, so I used Marina Madness Hybrid Ink and blended the cloud border at the top of the stencil a few times just like I did with the grass.
The critters in the We Be Jammin' stamp set are so cute! And perfect for a little picnic scene! I stamped a few images with Raven Hybrid Ink and colored them with alcohol markers then die cut them with the We be Jammin' die set. I arranged them on my scene ( a little off center ... oops! straight grass is overrated! ) and stamped a sentiment from the We Be Jammin' stamp set in the clouds of my scene with Raven Hybrid Ink.
I finished the card with a cute plaid background paper from the Farmer's Market 6x6 Paper Pad and a few strips of dark blue plaid to ground the focal scene. See you soon!
