One of my favorite summertime snacks is a sweet watermelon! And you know how I love to use small images in stamp sets for backgrounds! I used an alcohol friendly ink to stamp the little watermelon slice from the Summer Sunshine stamp set across the middle portion of my card. I used simple 2 marker blending to color in each of the slices with alcohol markers. I also stamped and colored the little girl from Summer Sunshine and used the coordinating Penguin Perfect Cuts to cut them out.
I almost left my background white with the pops of colored watermelon slices ... and I may go back and create another card that way ... but I decided to add some warm summer sun colors to the background. The quickest and easiest way to mask off a bunch of tiny images is to color them with a Versamarker, add clear embossing powder, heat set - and blend away! I blended on Spiced Marmalade to the middle and Squeezed Lemonade on the top and bottom of my card. I spattered on some black ink to mimic watermelon seeds for texture.
I stamped and heat embossed the word "sweet" from the Rabbit Cafe stamp set and the word "summer" from the Summer Sunshine stamp set. I used foam squares on the back of the girl and the sentiment strips. Add a little shimmer and that completes the card! Here's my video!
Thanks for watching! See you soon!
