Distress Ink Blending and Lifting

Hi, everyone! I hope you've seen the new release from Beth Duff Designs! Today I'm using the Let's Get Lit stamp set to create a couple of rustic masculine cards! Scroll to the bottom of this post to watch the video!

I stamped the reindeer image repeatedly across watercolor cardstock and embossed them with gold powder. Then I blended on some brown Distress Inks - Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs, and Walnut stain using new to me blending brushes from Picket Fence Studios.

I had planned to keep this simple and just add some flicks of water, but I felt like the reindeer were getting lost - rather the gold embossing was getting lost, so I tried to fix it! I started by using some clean water and a brush and coloring over the images and using a paper towel to lift up the water. This lightens the area and makes it stand out from the background. For some added definition I used some dark brown watercolor to outline each reindeer.

I used a die from Concord & 9th and added some Versamark to the bottom of the die with some gold embossing for a dipped die cut look. Check out the video below for more information!
