Rainbow ( Ombre ) Stamping & A Process Video.

Hello, crafty friends!

I'm sharing two more cards using the Studio Calico September 2014 card kit. One of the cards uses the large "hooray" stamp with 6 colors of Color Theory inks and the other uses just paper and stickers from the kit. They do have one thing in common, though! I cut up a strip of paper and used it on each of the cards! Let's see them!

I have a process video to go along with this card. I made this for one of my good friends - she just had a little baby boy. He is the cutest baby ever!! I wanted to make a super special card for her and I just loved this large sentiment that was included in the kit.

The base of the card is made of kraft colored cardstock that came in the kit (standard 4.25 x 5.5 inches). The next layer of paper (the text paper) measures (4 x 5.5 inches). Then I took a piece of diamond patterned paper and cut along the outlines of the diamond shapes. I adhered this paper along the top and bottom of the text paper.

I stamped the main sentiment using Studio Calico inks - Emerald City, Yes Peas, Lime Light, Going Green, Mint Hint, and Glass Slipper (in that order). I wanted there to be a rainbow/ombre effect with each letter in a different color. I stamped the "H" with Emerald City and let the ink overlap into the first "O" just a little bit so that the ink would blend together. Then I took a wet paper towel and just dabbed away some of the ink to minimize the appearance of harsh lines. I continued stamping in that same manner with the other 5 inks. The little sentiments are stamped in Emerald City, Yes Peas, and Lime Light (also in that order).

I cut out the sentiments in a big banner shape - fussy cutting around the top of the "H" and the bottom of the "Y". This is adhered onto the card between the diamond paper pieces with one thickness of foam tape.

Here's the video:

I used the same cutting technique on the diamond patterned paper to make this simple card. I adhered it straight down onto an A2 size card made from a piece of red cardstock from the kit. For my sentiment, I took some of the vellum stickers and spelled out "hello there!". I thought the card still looked a bit naked...so I added some vellum star stickers to spruce it up a bit!

That's it for today, guys! Thanks for stopping by! I just filmed a video of a card using the newest SSS card kit, so I will have that up just as soon as I edit it!

  1. Hi, my name is Monica. You and I sub to both SC & SSS card kits. I wonder if you could use a pen pal from California to send cards to. I think it would be fun. Bye!
