I just received my Studio Calico Sandlot kit yesterday and I love it! The gumball machine stamp is to die for! I can see myself playing with this kit for a long time!
I suppose we'll jump right in to the card I made today,
The stamp set included the "globe" image that I used for this card. My husband and I argued over what the image actually is. He thought it was to fill in the globe on the gumball machine, but I don't think it's the right shape. I don't know what the stamp is supposed to be used for, but I thought it resembled one of those candy jars you see in those old candy shops.
I used the "rock and roll" stamping technique to only ink up the edges of my jars. I used a variety of SC inks for the jars and for the candy inside of the jars. I stamped the top of the jar image with embossing ink and used a silver glitter embossing powder to give the lids a shiny look. I used circle punches to punch out round candies to fill up the jars.
The card base is a teal blue paper that was included in the kit. I matted it with a piece of patterned paper from the kit. I love how the background looks like little round candies, too! I used a scrap piece of vellum to stamp and emboss my sentiment then I rounded the bottom two corners of the vellum and adhered it over a piece of patterned paper from the kit. I only glued down the top of the sentiment so that there would be some dimension behind the sentiment.
I used glue dots to adhere more candies to the inside of the card. It's the finishing touches that make things a little sweeter!
That's my card for today! You can be sure that I'll be making more cards with this adorable kit!
Thanks for stopping by!
