InkOn3 | Atelier Re-Inker Watercolor Stripes

Rainbows just make me so happy! Especially when they're bright and vibrant and mixed with beautiful white flowers! I used Atelier Ink Re-Inkers from InkOn3 along with the Posies Stamp Set for today's card - and I have to say - I really like it!

I love using re-inkers to add rich, vibrant color and the Atelier Inks are gorgeously pigmented! I wanted to have some simple chunky stripes, so I decided to just free hand them! 

I added a few drops of Marilyn Red, Marigold Orange, Bee Sting Yellow, Goddess Green, Peacock Blue, and My Jam Purple Re-Inkers to my work surface and used a bit of water and a 1/2" flat watercolor brush to add stripes to a piece of watercolor cardstock. I tried to keep the stripes pretty even, but in the end I think the fact that they all look a little wonky is great! It gives the background character! Haha! I keep a bit of Liquid Pixie Dust in a Small Fine Tip Watercolor Brush and I brushed some over each stripe. If I had thought ahead properly I would have mixed a drop of Liquid Pixie Dust into each puddle of Atelier Re-Inker before I painted - but I didn't. Oh well! 

I stamped my image from the Posies Stamp Set with Blackout Hybrid Detail Ink by combining the vase, stem, and flower onto heavy weight white cardstock. I colored the image quickly with Copic Markers and trimmed it out. I snapped a photo of the Copics that I used or you can see the coloring in action in the video above! Of course I needed a bit more shimmer, so I covered the image with Liquid Pixie Dust. 

I finished the card by stamping a sentiment from the Posies Stamp Set with Blackout Hybrid Detail Ink and adding the image with foam tape. I hope you like it! There's just something so striking about a vibrant rainbow background with a simple white flower. See you soon!

Simon Hurley create. // Watercolor Dye Ink Reinker Backgrounds

I'm back with more inspiration using Simon Hurley create. dye ink reinkers! I'm doing an ink smooshing watercolor emboss resist backgrounds - whew that's a mouthful! But I'm so excited about these backgrounds! Sit back and enjoy!

It's no secret! I love making my own backgrounds. It's probably my favorite part about cardmaking. And I love when I can get multiple cards from one background. Today I made three watercolored backgrounds and cut them up to create 6 cards!

Be sure to watch my video at the beginning of this post. I learned a lot as I played around and I have some tips and tricks to share with you! For all of my backgrounds I started by white heat embossing a background stamp from Simon Hurley create. I used School Scribbles, Watercolor Blooms, and Prom Dress. After my backgrounds were heat embossed I dropped some drops of Simon Hurley create. Dye Ink Reinkers onto my glass work surface and sprayed them with water and put my backgrounds face down into the ink. I dabbed off some ink and dunked my cardstock again and again until I had the look that I wanted.

Once all of my backgrounds were inky and gorgeous I did the unthinkable and cut them in half! Well ... not exactly half - but I cut them nonetheless! It's panic inducing, but I'm glad I did! I was able to get 6 cards from 3 simple backgrounds! I used the Encouraging Words stamp set and Simon Hurley create. dye inks to stamp sentiments on the white space of all of my cards.

Simon Hurley Create. // 3 Watercolor Cards with Re-Inkers

Hello! I love watercoloring and I decided to try something new to me! Watercoloring with Simon Hurley create. dye ink re-inkers!

The Flower Picking Friends stamp set is one of the newest Simon Hurley create. stamps and I just love it! I love that the large floral images can be used to create elegant designs or you can add in the tiny critters and create cute cards, too! I decided to go clean, simple, and elegant! I stamped each of the large flower images onto watercolor cardstock with black pigment ink and then heat embossed them with clear powder. The clear heat embossing helps me stay inside the lines when I watercolor. It's a little trick I always use!

I used the same technique to color all three cards - I just mixed up the colors a bit! I used two cups of water - one for cleaning my brush and one I kept clean and clear. I needed clean water because I like to color wet on wet when I'm coloring with liquid watercolors. I also dropped 2 or 3 drops of each reinker onto a palette. The reinkers were a little thicker than traditional liquid watercolors, but I treated them the same way. I used a small brush and added a layer of clean water to the portion I wanted to color and then dipped just the tip of the brush into the reinker and added color to the image.

The resulting color is so rich and vibrant because the reinkers are so pigmented and concentrated. It's a gorgeous look! And you can add water to the reinkers to water down the colors and get a variety of shades! I used Over the Moon, Slippery When Wet, and Grrr! for the yellow flower, Clear Skies for the blue flower, and Bee Sting for the red flower. I colored all of the leaves and stems with Overzealous - a perfect Spring green color! I still managed to color outside the lines even with the heat embossed barrier on the images. Oh well ... it happens! Haha! To cover up my mistakes I watered down some Minty Fresh reinker and painted a thin outline around each of the flowers. This really helps them pop off the page! For more texture I decided to add flicks of black watercolor over each panel.

I heat embossed three different sentiments from the Flower Picking Friends stamp set with white embossing powder on black cardstock. I trimmed them into banners and added them with foam tape at the bottom of each stem. I love how simple and elegant this trio of cards turned out!

Liquid Watercolor Flowers

Hey, everyone! One of my favorite things to do when I'm making cards is to go back and use older products that I haven't used in a while. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in what's new and forget my older favorites. Today I'm going back to the September 2018 box from The Hedgehog Hollow and using one of my favorite stamps!

The Bountiful Blooms stamps from the September 2018 box are so gorgeous! There's such a wide array of florals and leafy stems! I stamped a bunch of them over my card base using a light gray ink. I wanted to fill in some of the empty white spaces, so I used my stylus and added some dots of gray ink in between the flowers and stems. I stamped out the large floral cluster onto watercolor cardstock and colored it with my liquid watercolors. I love liquid watercolors because they're so pigmented and vibrant!

I cut out the floral cluster and added it to the front of my stamped card. I added a stamped and heat embossed sentiment and backed it with gold glitter cardstock for some extra bling! And that's all! Thanks for stopping by!

I recently purchased the Rennie Roses stamp set from Altenew and the Thanks a Bunch stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps and I've been DYING to use them together! I started by stamping my sentiment from the Thanks a Bunch stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink and my Mini MISTI. I covered the sentiment with clear embossing powder and heat set it until it was melted. I put the cardstock back into my Mini MISTI and stamped the flowers and leaves from the Rennie Roses stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I coated the flowers and leaves with white satin pearl embossing powder. I LOVE how this powder turns the black ink into a gorgeous silver color!

I decided to watercolor my images and used my Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors. Check out my video below if you want to see exactly how I colored them! I used a basic technique of wetting the area with clean water first and then dropping in color. I used a rainbow of liquid watercolors - Strawberry, Orange, Dandelion, Leaf, Deep Ocean, and Purple.

I finished off my card by using some Ebony Black Nuvo Crystal Drops. I have a trick for using this product that I recently learned! Watch my video below to see how to get perfect Nuvo drops every time!

Scrapping for Less February 2019 Flavor of the Month Sneak Peek

Hi, friends! I'm here to share a little peek at the new February 2019 Flavor of the Month card kit from Scrapping for Less! Our theme this month is Whip it Up and it's all about baking and all kinds of yummy goodies! This is one of my favorites! I love baking with my son and this kit gives me all the good feels!

This Whisky Business stamp set is included in the Banana Split level kit for February 2019. I love it so much! The font is gorgeous and I think it's so punny! I wanted to have a simple background to really make the sentiment shine, so I watercolored some stripes with my Brea Reese watercolors and liquid glitter for a sparkly rainbow background. Then I stamped and heat embossed my image and sentiment with white embossing powder. This kit also comes with some loose glitter, so I used some liquid glue at the bottom of the whisk and added some of the glitter for an extra bit of shine!

Liquid Watercolors with the January Box from The Hedgehog Hollow

Hi, there! I have another card to share with you using products from the January 2019 box from The Hedgehog Hollow! This card is full of shimmer! The next photo captures it the best, but you can see it in the video as well! I started by using my anti static powder bag all over my watercolor panel and taping the arrows stencil down from the back. Then I squished my Versamark ink pad over the top and sprinkled on some Hero Arts White Satin Pearl embossing powder.

Now the fun part! I dropped some liquid watercolors down onto my glass work surface - I used a light pink/coral, dark pink, and yellow. Then I added a drop of liquid glitter into the center of each drop of color. I spritzed my watercolor panel with water and put it face down onto the liquid watercolors. I love how highly pigmented and vibrant these colors are! And they mixed together beautifully!

To finish off the card I stamped the heart from the Finding Your Way stamp set and used the same liquid watercolors to color it. I love how the colors look different because I didn't mix them with anything! I cut it out and popped it up with foam tape and added a sentiment strip from the Geometric Love stamp set!
