LDRS Creative | How to Add Dimension Without Adding Layers

I’ll be the first to admit that a one-layer card is a little outside my comfort zone! I usually love creating cards with lots of layers and dimension, but sometimes you want something that’s simple to create and easy to mail. This card was all about creating the look of layers and dimension without actually adding any bulk - and there are so many little tricks you can use to make a one-layer design feel anything but flat!

I started by adding 1/2" strips of masking paper around each edge of my card panel, then blended pink and orange inks through the largest moon stencil from the Land & Sky Masks and Stencils. I intentionally let the stencil hang off the top right and bottom left edges so the ink blending would be cut off by the edge of the card. Next, I stamped the large floral image from the Floral Sketch 5x7 Stamps, positioning it so parts of the image overlapped the ink blending. A few black ink spatters added even more texture and interest before I removed the masking paper.

To finish the card, I used a fine-tip black pen to outline the edges of the card panel, which really emphasized the areas where the ink blending was cut off and gave the design the look of an additional layer. I also added Glossy Accents to the flowers that overlap the ink blending for a little bit of shine and dimension. Between the masking, cropped ink blending, overlapping imagery, ink spatters, hand-drawn border, and glossy accents, there are lots of ways to create visual depth without adding physical layers.

I had so much fun stepping outside my usual style with this card! If you love the look of layered cards but want something that's easier to mail, I hope these ideas inspire you to try creating dimension without the bulk. Sometimes a few simple techniques can make a single layer of cardstock feel like so much more!

LDRS Creative | Floral Galentine's Day Card

Happy Galentine's Day! I used LDRS Creative products to make a card to celebrate the friendships I'm so lucky to have!

I used Raven Hybrid Ink and stamped a bunch of flowers from the Floral Silhouette 4x6 Stamps at the bottom of an A2 piece of cardstock. I used Fandango, Tangerine Dream, and Banana Cream Pie Hybrid Inks to add a splash of color to my background and then trimmed it down a bit and matted it onto a piece of black cardstock. I cut a sentiment from the All Occasions Word Dies, adhered it to my card, and covered it with Glossy Accents. That's it! I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial!

Kindred Stamps // Shiny Bobalicious Rainbow Teas

Hi! The new Bobalicious stamp set from Kindred Stamps is so fantastic! Boba tea is super cute (and fun to say! Haha!) I decided to make them rainbow ... because everything is better with rainbows! This fun stamp set will be released on March 27th as part of the Kindred Stamps monthly release!

This card makes me so happy! But it's really easy to make! A little stamping, a little coloring, a little masking, and a little stenciling! I stamped the boba tea image from the Bobalicious stamp set across the center of my card with a MISTI for even spacing and colored them with Spectrum Noir Triblend Markers. I also stamped and colored the adorable girl image and a sentiment under the line of boba teas.

I realized something was missing in the background, so I cut masks for the boba teas from masking paper and covered them up. I placed the Heart and Dots stencil over my card and blended on some pistachio/lime colored ink over the background. It was like magic peeling back the masks from the teas! I'm in love with this background!

Since the whole background is one layer I decided to pop up the girl with foam squares for dimension. I added a healthy layer of Liquid Pixie Dust to the boba teas and the girl's outfit and covered the boba teas with Glossy Accents. Now they're sparkly and shiny and all things yummy!! I hope you love this Bobalicious rainbow card! You can find it in the Kindred Stamps store on March 27th!
